...a Matriarch is concerned with her descendents.
WHOA!
I'm thinking, reading, praying, pressing, stretching, and growing.
I've had more than a paradigm shift - my old one was so badly constructed that it had to be scrapped and a new one made.
What I live, teach, model, pray, decide and speak to my four twerps RIGHT NOW has ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES!
Flash to the scene from that Tom Cruise/ Jack Nicholson movie where Jack tells Tom, "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"
I **SO** can't handle the truth!
We have houseguests this week. Our friend Chris, founder of Alpha Relief, and his friend Lisa are here. He's spearheading efforts to provide humanitarian relief to the persecuted church in China and N. Korea. She is launching a program to facilitate the collaboration of Christian heads of state to encourage dialog and advance the cause of Christ globally. She just got back from Lybia and Egypt. He's headed to Atlanta, then Seattle, then China.
I'm probably fixing chicken nuggets for lunch tomorrow.
What the Word is telling me now, through my study of mothers in the Bible, is that I'm feeding nuggets to Kingdom Warriors. As a mom, I am in the unique position of not only discipling my children to Christ, but of having an eternal effect on everyone THEY will touch.
If I want them to have oil for their lamps, I must have oil in mine, and I cannot fail to lead them to the Source, so that when my lamp is dark, theirs will still shine.
We went to a small Christian gathering this evening, Chris, Lisa and I. The speaker was David High and the topic was recent world events in light if Biblical prophesy. I came away certain that I will have failed my children and my God if I send the children out into the world able to factor quadratic equations but wearing paper armor. They will not only be defenseless, but useless.
MY FIRST JOB is to disciple myself to Christ in a way that I never have. Wholly and with abandon, understanding that it's not for me, or for my kids. It's for my descendents and the war they will be fighting.

Wow, that is so good. I loved what you said
"if I send the children out into the world able to factor quadratic equations but wearing paper armor. They will not only be defenseless, but useless"
That is SOO true!!! Thanks for sharing the truth you are learning! It challenged and blessed me today!
This post reminds me that we can't give what we don't have. So critical that we "fill up" on the Holy Spirit everyday so that we can pour it out in our children's lives...and there are days I feel so inadequate. Lots to think about here....
Man, thanks for the reminder! Sometimes I get off track, forget the real purpose of all of this, and get caught up in the "equations". This is a great post!
"In a way that I never have" - This is exactly why I'm in panic mode. It's like we're cramming for a test we've known about all semester but haven't bothered to learn the material. And my kids are skipping class.
Thanks for this post!
