Speaking of moms and exhaustion...

The following email was in my inbox this morning. Courtenay is a sweet mom of 4 young boys who is literally overcome by the demands of her disease and her life. I've known her for 6 years on a pretty personal level: I helped her with nursing her two oldest children. I had no idea that she was suffering, and I've always admired her upbeat attitude and willingness to do anything for anyone anytime.

Dear Friends:

As you may or may not know, I have been having severe migraine headaches, terrible joint & muscle pain and fatigue for about the last year. This is primarily the reason I sold Gymboree and even, still, I find myself lacking the energy and well-being that I need to be a good mother to (or even just keep up with!) our four little boys! We have even had to hire a home health care aide to assist me in dressing, feeding, bathing and holding the boys in the mornings because I have been losing use of my hands and this just breaks my heart!

I am not however just sending this e-mail for sympathy (prayers are appreciated but no sympathy, please!) -- two things have happened recently that have brightened my outlook and hopes that I can again take care of my boys!

1) We have just returned from the Mayo Clinic where I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia (a chronic pain syndrome), chronic migraines and several other conditions. The Mayo Clinic's primary recommendation was not medication but regular exercise, improved nutrition and rest incorporated into our chaotic life!

2) Right before we left town, I found out that I was one of four finalists in a contest sponsored by Metro Family Magazine and the winner gets a personal trainer, a nutritionist and a lifestyle coach for one year!

Isn't that amazing (truly a God thing!)??? I could be blessed with the exact services recommended by the Mayo Clinic (valued at $15,000) to decrease my pain and fatigue, which we cannot really afford now that I am a full-time stay-at-home mom! This seems to be an answer to my prayers but I HAVE NOT WON YET!

I NEED YOUR VOTE! (click here)

I so need this help to allow me to be a good mom again! Thank you so much, thank you for your prayers and my love to you all!

Love, Courtenay Sobral

Would you pray for my friend? Would you consider casting a vote for her in this contest? Would you ask the Lord to show those of us who know Courtenay how He would have us bless her while she's struggling so?

I'll let you know what happens.

Good heavens. I'm friends with Courtenay, too! Every time I come to my computer this week I find a new connection between me and Courtenay. When she sent out that email, a whole new world opened up! It has just been amazing!

I bet she wins.

I hope so!
