Nothing Gets By This Kid

On Saturday, in strictest confidence and deadly seriousness, Pixie said, "Mom. I've figured out about the Easter Bunny. And Santa. And the Tooth Fairy."

All of the air was sucked out of the room. This is my second-born, sensitive thinker-child. She's 10 1/2. Not yet. It's too soon.

"What did you figure out, Sweetie?" I asked.

"They're all nocturnal."

"Right you are, Darlin'. Right you are."

I know it won't be long before her heart catches up with what her head knows, and then she can be a part of making the fun for the younger ones, but I'm never quite ready to watch another layer of my children's innocence peeled away.

They grow up too soon, that's for sure. You're right, I'm sure she knows the truth of the matter, but her hearts wants it to be real for just a little longer.

LOL! Whew! I thought she was going to say they all wore shooties. I'm so glad that's not the case. I'm not sure my mind's eye could take it.

Only the Easter Bunny wears shooties. She has a cankles issue. Don't say anything, though. She's pretty sensitive about it.

My son got into a fight (words only! thank goodness) on the play ground defending Santa. Since we didn't want bodily harm to ensue, my husband and I took him aside on Sunday afternoon(he's 10 and 1/2, too)and let the axe gently fall. To this day, I feel like a dream killer. However, he's been just scrumptious for my 8 1/2 y.o dd. Nary a clue has passed her way from him.

Oh my gosh. What will you do when this kid is older? Now come and get your randomized questions!

Oh such a sensitive subject for me...so much I had to write on forgiveness....

seems my father felt it was his place to drop the truth bomb on my 11 year old son that there is no santa (this past Christmas).. then this past weekend, he blurted out there was no easter bunny (during the Easter egg hunt)....

I'm going to let my dad know not to worry about the tooth fairy, I've already killed her image...

Whatever was he thinking?... I think it does explain my need for therapy... BIG SMILE....

thankfully I can laugh about it.. and my son is very laid back and wonders what is up with granddaddy...

but your post did cause me to chuckle...

have fun with your questions from Linda....
